The Legend of the Dream Catcher

The Old Ones tell that dreams hold great power and drift about at night before coming to the sleeping ones.

To keep the dreamer safe, the Old Ones created a special web,the Dream Catcher, to hang above their sleeping places.

When dreams traveled the web paths, the bad dreams lost their way and were entangled, disappearing with the first rays of daybreak.

The good dreams,knowing the way, passed through the center and were guided gently to the sleeping ones.

A Chippewa Legend

A spider was quietly spinning his web in his own space. It was beside the sleeping space of Nokomis, the grandmother. Each day, Nokomis watched the spider at work, quietly spinning away. One day as she was watching him, her grandson came in. "Nokomis-iya!" he shouted, glancing at the spider. He stomped over to the spider, picked up a shoe and went to hit it.

"No-keegwa," the old lady whispered, "don't hurt him."

"Nokomis, why do you protect the spider?" asked the little boy.

The old lady smiled, but did not answer. When the boy left, the spider went to the old woman and thanked her for saving his life. He said to her, "For many days you have watched me spin and weave my web. You have admired my work. In return for saving my life, I will give you a gift."

He smiled his special spider smile and moved away, spinning as he went.

Soon the moon glistened on a magical silvery web moving gently in the window. "See how I spin?" he said. "See and learn, for each web will snare bad dreams. Only good dreams will go through the small hole. This is my gift to you. Use it so that only good dreams will be remembered. The bad dreams will become hopelessly entangled in the web."

How many of you have ever heard of Marcel Vogel?
Marcel Vogel passed away some 17 years ago but he left us a legacy of tremendous thought-provoking crystal healing knowledge, mostly based upon his own experimentation.
For many years I have had in my possession five audio casette recordings which was taken during one of Marcel's Workshops 20+ years ago.
Being in the old-fashioned cassette format the quality of reproductive sound was not very good. Recently, however, I have had all Marcel's audio casettes digitally enhanced and created into an mp3 format.
The quality of Marcel's voice is now superb - and is very easy to listen!
Since the size of each of the 5 mp3 files is very heavy it is not practical for them to be downloaded straight from the internet.

Children are beings of light

Parents witness how authentic and innocent a child is each day throughout their growth and development that occurs dramatically from birth (conception even) through puberty and then adolescence.

The influences of the 21st century have brought what seem to be superhuman feats in technology and mass communication. And as we all know, along with it all that, we can see clearly the effects on the delicate nervous systems of us humans along with the uncertain balance of the Earth and wild life. It seems many of us feel the need to slow our lives down and consciously choose to nurture ourselves more, as well as question our personal impact on the environment. Perhaps along with that, we see now how important it is to sit down and time for meditation and inner peace.

Let us be model examples to our children and to ourselves and try to take some time out to connect with nature, our inner selves, and outer world. Let us try to seek stillness in our busy, hectic schedules.

A simple way to go about such a practice is to take a walk and then a 10-minute break (or more) to sit by the water, be it a stream, a river, a lake, the sea. We are fortunate in Kerry to have easy access to any of these sources. During this break, we can ponder the peacefulness and beauty of the nature that surrounds us. Perhaps we can also wish to send our feelings of peace and love out to all the sentient beings in the world.

Cultivating such intentions for a few minutes a day can make all the difference inside ourselves and also in our interactions with those whose paths we cross each day.

Teaching this exercise to our children is crucial for their survival in a world that values speedy efficiency and monetary bottom lines.

The light that shines from our children today are what inspires us to guide our light in future days.
